In Lisbon, joint workshops on arts, crafts and culture began on April 4th with a first exploratory session, only with migrant and refugee women to present the work proposal in a safer and more familiar environment.
The purpose of the session was to discover their sources of inspiration and their manual skills.
The workshops will assume two different formats: a session of 2 hours, every Thursday, for MRW and Portuguese women and a session opened to the entire community, taking place on Saturdays between 10am and 5pm.
These sessions always end with a multicultural snack to which all participants contribute.
The aim of these workshops is also to bring all the women from a community (migrants and Portuguese women) together so that they have the opportunity to get to know each other and work towards a common goal
We will produce large pieces to install in public space allusive to the theme "Climate Refugees and Climate Change"
The pieces to be exhibited and the techniques to be used will be idealized and defined in the workshops of Thursday. On Saturdays, the creators of the pieces teach all the participants how to produce the elements that are necessary for the composition of the final piece. Of course, the creative contributions of all the participants will be taken into account and very well welcome and the whole process will be a co-creation experience.
The facilitators of the sessions are two young women with a background in visual arts and fine arts who have joined us voluntarily to give life to this project.
