On Friday 29 November 2019, a group of women gathered in the feminist library in Florence: Senegalese, Moroccan, Egyptian, French and Italian. They are the women who participated in our WEMIN project activities and decided to celebrate the conclusion of the project with us.
On this occasion we talked, shared knowledge and future desires and ate, of course, all together, we also wanted to thank all the associations and all the women who made this project possible: we reached 120 MR women with courses, 70 Italian women were involved and we did 400 hours of Italian, 48 hours of empowering, 30 mentoring hours and 40 hours of practical workshop.
The cooking workshop has become a simple and effective way to talk about oneself, to bring one's world into the open and share it with other women, overcoming possible linguistic barriers and above all one's habits, which often lead to looking at others as strangers, attributing to different cultures one remoteness that appears inevitable. Surely one of the most symbolic phrases is “you can find these everywhere and this bring me immediately home” because it doesn’t matter where you are but if you have the right ingredients you are at home.
Every woman who participated in the workshops (held in Florence and the province in October and November 2019) was able to experience herself in a dual capacity: as a carrier of rich and complex personal knowledge, at the same time as an "explorer" of new and unknown worlds, flavors and stories
