Empoli – Florence province (IT)
A first meeting between the Legal Office of the Sprar* - supported by the Municipality of Empoli - in collaboration with the Wemin project was organized in Empoli the 6th September 2019.
A group of Georgian women interested in legal and health issues were involved in a session to analyse their needs and expectations.
In fact, in the previous months more than 80 of them attended the legal office to request information and support on legal, social and health issues.
This first meeting was attended by 15 women from the Georgian community. The session was facilited by 2 social operators linked to the legal office and to the WEMIN Project which supports migrant women in their path of social inclusion and empowerment.
The debate was promoted by a Georgian cultural mediator. The meeting was intense: at first the difficulties and frustrations of the participants related to the conditions of renewal of the documents created a tense atmosphere in the room. Through the understanding of the requests and active listening of the MR women’s stories the day became a moment of constructive exchange in search of common and feasible solutions.
