Associação Renovar a Mouraria held an international conference on the cross-border issue of migrant and refugee women, in the past 15th and 16th March, Lisbon, called “Travessia – Women and girls searching for shelter”.
Within the framework of this conference, the Short Policy Guide was presented to all parliamentary groups of the Portuguese Assembly of the Republic. The challenge was to build a set of objective recommendations within the national context, based on the guide and testimonies of refugee women who were shared the same afternoon, at another time of the conference, to be read in the conclusion moment of the last day of the event.
All the interventions that took place during the two days of conference were in the feminine, including 4 international speakers: Shannon Pfohman, Advocay Directo of Caritas Europe; Fatumata Djau Baldé, President of National Committee for the Abolition of Harmful Practices for the Health of Women and Children, Guiné Bissau; Anna Zobrina, Strategy & Policy Coordination, Europeam Network of Migrant Women and Diana Ioana Tudorance, Migrant Women Association Malta.
The Short Policy Guide was delivered in paper to all people presente in the conference, including representatives of political parties with seats in the assembly and speakers.
They were invited to send us notes on the guide and new recommendations that we will compile with the final document that resulted from the two working days of the conference.
